  4. Seeing the Light - Photography Tutorial
    Duration: 15:37

Description: Excuse my Rant! I just couldn't help it. I've been noticing way too many photos lately that were mediocre but could have been enhanced with better lighting or angle. In this video I go through a few photos that can give you ideas on how to improve your lighting. Here are a few tips to help even more. Study photographs! There is no replacement for studying other photographer's work. Try to break down how photographs were lit, position of lights & shadow Change the pose or angle for a portrait to get a better result Watch the lighting on TV shows or movies. They are great at what they do (most of the time...) so pay attention! Last one: keep working at it and practicing! Most great photographs don't fall in your lap, you need to CREATE THEM!

Early on my exposure were terrible, I didn't know any better but to me its more important early on to see the image and compose it. For a top 5 tips on composition please click the link above.

  6. Photography Tutorial for Beginners: Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO
    Duration: 8:18

Description: Photography Tutorial for Beginners: APERTURE Tutorial SHUTTER SPEED Tutorial ISO Tutorial There three things that affect the exposure of an image: The APERTURe, SHUTTER SPEED and ISO. You need to find the perfect balance between these three elements to get the right look that you want, as well as the right exposure. The aperture affects the amount of light that comes into the sensor and the depth of field. The depth of field will determine how much of the image is in focus. The shutter speed will determine the length of the exposure. The longer the shutter speed, the more light comes in, and the shorter the shutter speed, the less light comes into the image. It also determines the amount of blur that appears in the photo. A longer exposure is more susceptible to blur and camera shake. The ISO is the sensitivity of the sensor to light. Lower ISOs mean that the sensor is less sensitive and therefore going to need more light to expose an image. Higher ISO requires less light to expose and image, but adds noise the the image. Noise will saturate color, making them look unrealistic. Getting the right exposure is all about balancing these three elements. It will take time, but if you learn the basics, it gets easier! Leave comments and questions in the comment section! I'm always happy to help! Thanks! LINKS! FLICKR: TWITTER: FACEBOOK: CAMCRUNCH: Photography Tutorial Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO Photography ...

  12. One Light Fashion Portrait Photography Tutorial
    Duration: 5:25

Description: Tried this Tutorial? Post your shot here: One Light Fashion Portrait Great portrait photography does not have to be technically complex. Last month we talked about shooting a portrait using natural light. Today, Nick Carter demonstrates how to create gorgeous fashion portrait using just one light. Single Light Source. If you feel comfortable using natural light in your photography then using a single light in the studio would be equivalent of owning your own sun (single light source). While nature can be unpredicted using an artificial source such as studio flash or continuous light will give you a full control. Using one light is a terrific way to learn. If one can master a single light there would be no surprises when multiply lights will be needed later in the game. Keep the variables to the minimum and focus on the subject. Have a great shoot. Assignment: Shoot a portrait using a single light post your shot at link below.

  17. Macro Photography Tutorial
    Duration: 7:12

Description: Questions? Go here: Basic tutorial on how to do macro (closeup) photography. FAQ Question: There are so many macro lenses, what's the difference? Answer: Every focal length differs in working space. The shorter, the lesser working space you'll get. The longer, the greater working space you'll get. Focal lengths of 60mm and shorter has an disadvantage: at 1:1 magnification, the front of lens will have to be so close, which will block the light. Question: At 1:1 magnification, will the subject appear differently on FX format than on DX format or vice versa? Answer: Nope, the subject size remains unchanged on both sensor formats. DX format is "cropped" from FX format, which makes the subject to appear larger. Question: Why do you have to cover the viewfinder? Answer: To prevent spray light from leaking onto the sensor. It's recommended if you're using a slow shutter speed with a high sensitivity. Question: Can I achieve this with a normal lens? Answer: No, most normal lenses don't have magnification ratios of 1:2 or 1:1. If you can't afford a macro lens, use your current lens to take photos at its minimum focus distance then do some tight cropping.
