  6. Fast Pop Art from photo (tutorial for Intermediate users of Photoshop)
    Duration: 8:09

Description: Thank you for watching this tut.! Please email me with any projects or questions to graphic.projects@yahoo.com It was my first Photoshop tut. so I was experimenting with screen recording software. Steps: 1. Choose your picture(think about composition and design) 2. Cut your picture from the background 3. Desaturate layer 4. Take your layer and apply Threshold (appr 130-200 but choose which one is The Best for your image) then go and add Gaussian Blur (2-3 pix) so it won't be so distracting and pixelated. 5. Now we need to make "Dots" to look it like Pop Art picture...so go ahead and right click on "duplicate layer" - Destination "New" - you will get new document . Put Mode Grayscale and discard all color info. Then go and change mode to Bitmap and flatten layers. Now you can apply Halftone Screen (go ahead and play with a frequency, angle. Put shape options: "Round" Ok we are almost there! So here is your pop up image - cute! but need some color?! 6. Copy this layer so you'll get 2 layers with your dot image (one of them I put Opacity 9% and another just leave 100%) - both of them put Multiply in a layer properties. Put on the top layer with 100%. (you'll see why i did it) - depends from picture but you can adjust lower layer opacity until you satisfied with affect. I hope you saved original bitmap picture (it can be very useful when you start coloring (in this project hair borders disappeared after filter manipulation) 7. Start to color picture with a brush tool. For ...

  8. Superheterodyne Receiver
    Duration: 1:56

Description: Superheterodyne ReceiverA superheterodyne receiver, or simply a superheterodyne, is a type of receivers, where the received signal iis transformed nto a fixed intermediate frequency signal with its further amplification. The main advantage of the superheterodyne is the fact that the most critical parts of the reception path in relation to good reception (such as the narrowband filter, intermediate frequency amplifier, demodulator) do not switch over to different frequencies. And this is the reason why they have better performance characteristics.A simplified structure chart of a superheterodyne is shown in the figure.Radio signal from the antenna is transmitted to the RF amplifier input. Then it goes to the input of the detector, which mixes the signal frequency and the oscillator frequency. And the oscillator circuit of the heterodyne switches over simultaneously with the input high-frequency circuit. Thus, at the detector's output the signals have a frequency equal to the sum and difference of the heterodyne and the receiving radio station frequencies. The differential fixed signal of the intermediate frequency is separated out with the help of intermediate frequency filter and is amplified by one or more intermediate frequency amplifier stages. The intermediate frequency signal is then transmitted to the demodulator, which reconstructs the audio signal. For conventional receivers of long-, medium- and short- wave ranges, the intermediate frequency value is 455 or 465 kHz.In ...

  10. Simulink / Matlab Video Tutorial and Example - Low Pass Filter - Bode Plots (Part 2)
    Duration: 9:40

Description: www.FreedomUniversity.TV. Here is a quick introduction describing a low pass filter LPF). A LPF passes low frequency signals while attenuating the amplitude of signals with higher frequencies at a frequency called the cutoff frequency. The cutoff frequency determines when frequencies of the input signal passes through the filter unattenuated and what signal frequencies gets attenuated. Below the cutoff frequency, signals with frequencies below the cutoff passes through unattenuated otherwise the signal gets attenuated when its frequency is above the cutoff frequency. Note that a high pass filter is opposite to a LPF and a bandpass filter is a cascade combination of a high-pass filter and low-pass filter. From a stereo perspective the low pass filter passes the bass frequencies and the high pass filter passes the treble audio signal. An equalizer basically consists of a whole bunch of bandpass filters connected in parallel. The low-pass filter exists in many different forms, but our focus here is in signal processing but it can be found in applications such as finance and image processing. You can think of a low pass filter as a smoother or averaging function removing the short-term variations or oscillations of a signal quantity. In finance for example, you take 120-day averages to determine long-term trends. The video will provide review what an ideal low pass filter is and provide a simple RC circuit as first-order filter. A Matlab demo is given to illustrate how ...

  14. About Radio ... Part 14 Local oscillator for the AM frequencies by Andy Davies
    Duration: 13:10

Description: In this fourteenth video 'About Radio' I show you the local oscillator for the AM frequencies and how the wave change switch selects the various components needed to change to operating frequency of both the receiving circuits and the local oscillator. If this helps you please let me know. Kind regards ... Andy gw0jxm ## Additional after posting I've had this comment posted on my vintage-radio.net account and I thought I'd post it here as it's very helpful, my thanks to Paula who signs as 'frsimen' Copy... Hello Andy, I don't have a YouTube account, so I'm not able to make a comment there. In your description of the aerial tuned circuits, you said that you weren't sure why there was a 100k resistor across the Long Wave winding. The reason it's there is to damp the Q factor of the long wave coil. Without the resistor, the Q would be 100 or more. With a Q of 100, using the trusty formula, Bandwidth = Resonant Frequency/Q, on 198kHz the bandwidth would be 1.98kHz, which in a double sideband system would effectively be only 990Hz for the modulation. Clearly that is going to spoil the attempts at giving a bandpass characteristic in the IF amplifier. The resistor will reduce the Q somewhat, widening the bandwidth to a more reasonable value. The unloaded coil Q would be the determined by the effective parallel resistance of the coil (from Q=R coil/wL) where w= 2 *PI * Frequency and L = coil inductance Thus R coil = Q*wL. The new Q is the effective coil resistance in parallel ...

  16. Channel Selector (Tuner)
    Duration: 2:27

Description: Channel Selector (Tuner)Tuner, also called channel selector, is used for extracting and enhancing a desired high-frequency input signal which comes from the antenna directly through the antenna amplifier. Besides, by means of heterodyning, ie by mixing signal with heterodyne oscillations, the received high-frequency signals are transformed into signals of lesser intermediate frequency. A distinctive feature of modern all-wave tuners is the possibility of reception in frequency ranges designated for cable and on-air television. All intervals of received frequency in the selectors are divided into subbands VHF1, VHF2, and UHF. According to the operating principle there are two types of tuners: with voltage synthesis (VST) or frequency synthesis (PLL). The types differ in ways of tuning for the transmitting station. Control unit processor in a TV set forms tuning voltage for the voltage synthesized selectors. For this matter a high-stable voltage source of +30 V is used. Frequency synthesized selectors have an additional microcircuit chip installed which helps to achieve a required precision of tuning for the selected channel. Reception band switching is also ensured by control unit. Frequency synthesized selectors have discrete stepwise tuning. Modern channel selectors have a common antenna socket for all subbands of received frequencies. The transformed signal then goes from the tuner to the intermediate frequency amplifier or radiochannel unit...
