  16. Writing Linear Equations - YourTeacher.com - Algebra Help
    Duration: 2:49

Description: For a complete lesson on writing linear equations, go to www.yourteacher.com - 1000+ online math lessons featuring a personal math teacher inside every lesson! In this lesson, students learn to write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form using the graph of the line. In some problems, the graph is given, and in other problems, the graph must be drawn (using given information about points and slope). Since slope intercept form is the same thing as y = mx + b form, where m represents the slope and b represents the y-intercept, the next step is to use the graph to find the slope and y-intercept of the line. To find the slope, use the ratio rise over run between any two points on the given line. To find the y-intercept, remember that the y-intercept is the point where the line crosses the y-axis. Finally, substitute the values for the slope, m, and y-intercept, b, into the formula y = mx + b to write the equation of the line.

  25. Orgo Tutorial - How to Write the SN2 Reaction Mechanism
    Duration: 2:39

Description: This video demonstrates the mechanism of SN2 reactions. Below you will find complete instructions. For more tutorials and study guides visit www.biomed-engineer.com This video will demonstrate the mechanism of Substitution Nucleophilic Bimolecular reactions, abbreviated as SN2, showing the correct way to draw the reagents, transition state and the products. They happen in the presence of a strong nucleophile, a primary or secondary aliphatic compounds, and an aprotic polar solvent. To explain the mechanism let's take a look at the following simple example . In this example a strong nucleophile is reacting with a secondary alkyl halide in an aprotic polar solvent. All the requiresmts of an SN2 reactions are fullfilled, therefore we know that this reaction will follow an SN2 mechanism. Start off by first drawing the nucleophile. Notice that the Potassium ion is not drawn, and that the lone electron pairs are shown on sulphur. Continue with the drawing of the sec-butil bromide. We use a ball-and-stick method to show the structure of the compound, making sure to draw the leaving group away from the nucleophile. Bromide is in this case the leaving group. All free electron pairs are shown on bromide, as well. Next, proceed to show how the reaction will start with curved arrows. One curved arrow is drawn from the nucleophile to the central carbon of sec-butyl bromide, on the nearest side, the one that is opposite to bromide. The other curved arrow is drawn from the bond between ...
