  18. Lunar Magic Tutorial: Overworld Editing (3 of 7)
    Duration: 9:10

Description: UPDATE: I realize some of this material is outdated and certain things aren't covered as in-depth as people would like. However, I really don't have time to help people individually, so please direct your questions about hacking to SMWCentral. You can get a lot more help on the forums there for all this stuff, as well as for things I've never done (eg custom graphics, blocks, sprites, music, etc.) Topics: - Adding level and path tiles on Layer 1 - Editing level tile settings - Linking Pipes (and stars) - TESTING! Important Notes: - You can only choose level numbers from 0-24 and from 101-13B (in hex). These are the only levels accessible from the overworld. - Level 0 is the bonus game you play after getting 100 bonus stars from hitting the goal tape. If you enter this level by any other means, it will not work properly and you will be stuck there forever. - Level 24 (Chocolate Island 2) has special programming that redirects screen exits to certain level numbers based on coins collected and time remaining. If you are using this level, You can either disable this programming or simply not put screen exits. - Level 104 is the original Yoshi's House. It has special programming so that the message in any message boxes is determined by whether or not you are riding Yoshi. This level is also used in the ending credits sequence. For more information about SMW romhacking and to download the tools seen in this video, go to smwcentral.net.
