  2. Financial Tutorial #1 Wide Screen
    Duration: 9:55

Description: This is a new version of my first stock tips video. This version is wide screen and has a better audio track. I will leave the old video up for those who watch it at the sites where it has been embedded. This first financial tutorial is part of a series I will be uploading for my financial site at; www.ezfinancialtutorials.com For beginners to stock trading I recommend studying the market for at least a year before you risk any money. There are many good financial sites including Google Finance and Yahoo Finance and MoneyCentral.msn and Bloomberg for starters. There are many brokers from which to choose when you start your account. Some brokers are Schwab, Zecco, Scottrade and TD Ameritrade (I trade with TD Ameritrade). Check the brokers sites for info on their minimum requirements. Study the Dow 30 Industrials and the NYSE and the NASDAQ and study the market in your own country. International trading is now very common. You can live in one country and buy stocks in another.

  9. 1. Why Finance?
    Duration: 01:14:17

Description: Financial Theory (ECON 251) This lecture gives a brief history of the young field of financial theory, which began in business schools quite separate from economics, and of my growing interest in the field and in Wall Street. A cornerstone of standard financial theory is the efficient markets hypothesis, but that has been discredited by the financial crisis of 2007-09. This lecture describes the kinds of questions standard financial theory nevertheless answers well. It also introduces the leverage cycle as a critique of standard financial theory and as an explanation of the crisis. The lecture ends with a class experiment illustrating a situation in which the efficient markets hypothesis works surprisingly well. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Course Introduction 10:16 - Chapter 2. 15. "Stock Market" Tutorial #6 "Stock Screening"
    Duration: 6:50

Description: My financial website is; www.ezfinancialtutorials.com An investor will find the stock screener to be a useful tool for finding a stock or mutual fund which meets his or her requirements. The screener can be set to display stocks with high dividends or high earnings or low P ratios or any of a variety of possibilities. I believe it is necessary for any investor to pay off credit card debt before getting into the market. I do not buy partnerships because of the K-1 tax schedule and the requirement to pay taxes in every state in which the partnership does business. Partnerships often pay very high dividends but for me it is not worth the trouble. "stock screening"

I don't care what field you're in or what accounting program you use, you must have the basic fundamentals down in order to be truly effective and good at what you do. When it comes to bookkeeping it comes down to a thorough understanding of Debits and Credits and how they affect the financial statements. I think many so called bookkeepers have purchased QuickBooks and figured out how to post a check, a bill, an invoice and a customer payment and then they hold themselves out as a bookkeeper. That is not bookkeeping and I have seen it frustrate many business owners not to mention give "bookkeepers" a bad rap. And Bookkeepers are by and large good people ?. Now that I have been invited to blog on Tool Box For Finance I would like to cover some more technical accounting issues here. This is the first in a series of blog posts I plan on doing where I am going over bookkeeping based on the fundamentals and then showing what that looks like in QuickBooks. This way you can take the knowledge and apply it in any accounting software, or perhaps even more importantly you can take that knowledge and use it to figure out how to book other transactions that previously may have baffled you ...
