Takht (Sikhism)

The word Takht () literally means 'seat of power' or 'throne of authority' and refers to the five bodies of temporal physical authority of the Sikhs. Sometimes 'Takht' is spelled 'Takhat' or even 'Takat'. Each Takht is led by a High Priest called Jathedar.
